Sony has released a new trailer for NieR: Automata at Tokyo Game Show 2016 in Japan. The trailer also reveals the february 2017 release date.
NieR: Automata is set in the same universe as Nier and is a spin-off of the Drakengard series. Set in the midst of a proxy war between machines created by otherworldly invaders and the remnants of humanity, the story follows the battles of combat android 2B, her companion 9S, and the obsolete prototype A2.
Players will control multiple characters through action-based gameplay, with new playable characters unlockable with each playthrough and story route. While stated to be a high-action game, the developers have said that it will likely retain the role-playing elements of the original Nier.
NieR: Automata will launch in Japan on February 23rd 2017 exclusively for PlayStation 4. A release date for a western release has not yet been given.
