Rockstar Games has announced that it has launched additional measures against players that use cheats or mods in the online world of Grand Theft Auto V.

The new measures hit accounts that have either used cheats, mods, glitches or other exploits to gain an advantage. According to the game developer players that are in danger of having actions taken against their account will receive an ingame warning.

In the warning it is stated that the player will lose their progress as well as online characters and collected items. With a second warning players will receive a permanent ban from the online component of the game.

In a statement the studio says that "to keep the gameplay environment fair [they] have removed illegitimately gained in-game money from player accounts. If you received an alert saying that your shared bank balance was adjusted, that is because you had illegitimate funds in your account."

Earlier today Rockstar Games has also announced a new Halloween content update for the game.
