Nintendo has just revealed their new video game console called Nintendo Switch. For the past couple of years the console was known as Nintendo NX because the term was used as the internal development codename.

The new console heavily focuses on portable play. In addition to providing single and multiplayer gameplay at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose.

The new console is a large portable screen that fits inside a console stand that acts as link between the console and the TV to transmit the video signal.

When the user wants to play a game on the road the screen can be removed from the console stand after which the user can attach controller pads on the side. The console will also support typical controller gamepad gameplay.

Nintendo has not yet released an official release date for Nintendo Switch but previous statements indicate that it wants to have the console available for purchase in March of 2017.
