Last week the Dutch Telegraaf reported that a Dutch company claimed that the upcoming space exploration game No Man’s Sky used a formula for world generation that was patented by them. In a new statement Hello Games founder Sean Murray has debunked the claims.
The managing director of Hello Games took to the Twitter to respond to the rumour. He denied that No Man’s Sky is using the same "superformula" and says he will meet with the Dutch company to talk about Hello Games' formula once the game has been released.
"No Man's Sky doesn't actually use this "superformula" thing or infringe a patent. This is a non-story... everybody chill" the tweet from Sean Murray reads.
In No Man's Sky players explore a procedurally generated deterministic open universe containing over 18 quintillion planets. The developer recently revealed that the game will take up 6 GB of disc space. The first launch update for the game is already in the works.
No Man's Sky is set to release August 9th in the US and August 10th in Europe for PC and Playstation 4.
